Duke Carlisle quarterbacked the Texas Longhorns to their first national championship in 1963. He has been inducted into The University of Texas Athletic Hall of Fame and the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame.

Duke briefly played for the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys upon graduating from The University of Texas. He spent time enlisted in the Army Medical Corps, in the investment banking business in New York City and Dallas, and eventually got into the oil business in McComb, Mississippi where he lives, works and writes today.
